She quoted me $2,500 and I had $10,000 for her!
But this won't happen to you because you know your worth right? RIGHT!

The moment that sparked my entire book - and really, my whole career in this industry - happened in 2015 when creators were still figuring out how to turn influence into income.
I was hiring YouTube creators to promote a fashion retailer as THE place to buy your prom dress. After evaluating dozens of creators with similar reach and content quality, I set aside $10,000 for each partnership.
Then it happened.
One creator - with amazing content and fantastic engagement - quoted me $2,500.
I was shocked. She had everything the brand wanted, yet she was asking for 75% less than what I was ready to pay.
That creator could have earned $7,500 more from a SINGLE campaign if she had known her true worth. She probably missed out on more than $100,000 in 2015 because no one told her how much to charge. CAN YOU IMAGINE???
Now, some "experts" will tell you to always ask for the brand's budget first. But here's why that's a red flag:
It signals you don't know your worth
It can make you look like you're just chasing money
But the worst one? It might trap you into delivering more than you can actually achieve
Here's what I mean: If you should be charging $5K and you jump at a $10K budget, you might accidentally commit to delivering double the results you're capable of - because the expectations are tied to the price, not your actual influence.
It's 2025. You shouldn't have to:
Guess what your rates should be
Leave money on the table
Let brands dictate your worth
Price based on your mood, your bank account, or whether Mercury is in retrograde
This is why I'm launching the Influence to Empire Series - FOUR strategic masterclasses to help you earn more in 2025 than you ever thought possible.
Whether you're still accepting product, making $1K-5k per month, or trying to crack the $25,000 per month ceiling, there is a masterclass for you.
Starting this Thursday, you'll learn:
How to calculate your true market value
When and how much to raise your rates

Here’s what I’m reading…
📧 THE NEWSLETTER BOOM - beehiiv dropped their 2025 State of Newsletters report and the numbers are wild: 15.6 billion emails sent (that's like 2 emails for every person on Earth), $14.5M in revenue generated for creators, and daily newsletter sends tripled from last year. But here's what really caught my eye: local newsletters are becoming the new local news. From LA raves to Catskills hiking trails, creators are building six-figure businesses serving their local communities. Peep the archives becasue I just talked about that two issues ago! [beehiiv]
🛒 THE COMMISSION HEIST - A class action lawsuit just launched investigating how browser extensions like Capital One Shopping, Honey, and Rakuten are allegedly "stealing" creator commissions by overwriting affiliate links. Even Mr. Beast is involved. Let me go fill this out so I can get my $5! [Top Class Actions]
🤖 THE AI PITCH TAKEOVER - PRophet just became the first PR platform to help brands pitch journalists AND creators simultaneously. While some will celebrate the efficiency, I'm worried about the "spray and pray" approach to creator outreach getting worse. R.I.P. our inboxes. [Yahoo!]
